COLOMBO (News 1st): Health authorities have warned of an increased risk of dengue and chikungunya outbreaks.
Specialist Dr. Prashila Samaraweera of the National Dengue Control Unit stated that the current intermittent rainfall has led to a rise in mosquito density across the country.
Meanwhile, five districts have been identified as high-risk areas for dengue.
These districts are Colombo, Ratnapura, Gampaha, Kandy, and Batticaloa.
Dr. Samaraweera has urged the public to destroy mosquito breeding sites immediately to prevent the spread of the diseases under the prevailing weather conditions.
