COLOMBO (News 1st); Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Levan Dzhagaryan, has expressed gratitude towards Sri Lanka for its neutral stance in the war that involves Russia.

He was speaking at the event organized in Honor of the 80th Victory Day Anniversary in Colombo.

The Ambassador rejected the term "Russia-Ukrainian war," describing the conflict as collective aggression by Western countries against Russia. He assured that Russia, as a nuclear power, is strong enough to defeat the "puppet regime" of Ukraine and its foreign sponsors, particularly European ones.

He further explained that the special military operation in Ukraine is not only to protect the lives and interests of the Russian population in the eastern part of Ukraine but also to guarantee Russia's security against the aggressive policies of Western countries. He noted a shift towards a more realistic policy by the current American administration compared to some European countries.

"We are ready for peace talks, but our security concerns should be respected. Once again, as you know, President Putin just announced our readiness for ceasefire for three days, May 8th, 9th, 10th. It's another, I mean, evidence for our readiness for peace talks. But once again, our security concerns should be respected," Dzhagaryan emphasized.

Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Levan Dzhagaryan, reflected on the immense losses Russia suffered during the Second World War, emphasizing the importance of remembering and never forgiving the atrocities.

Ambassador Dzhagaryan stated, "We have lost 27 million people during the Second World War. Never forget, never forgive. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to eradicate completely the roots of Nazism in Europe, but not only. That's why today, unfortunately, we are watching the renaissance or revival of fascism in some of the European countries."

"We respect all the people, we respect all the countries, but our demand is please respect Russian concerns, respect Russian sovereignty. Anyway, we are just strong enough once again, and there is no doubt that we will win this war," he asserted.
