Over 124,000 Traffic Violations in Two Weeks

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have reported a significant crackdown on traffic violations, filing a total of 124,247 cases between the 1st and 15th of this month. 

Among these, 9,920 cases were related to drunk driving.

The highest number of cases, totaling 18,205, were filed for violations of road rules. 

Drunk driving cases were predominantly against motorcyclists, with 7,216 cases, followed by three-wheeler drivers with 1,573 cases, and motor vehicle drivers with 664 cases.

Additionally, 2,148 cases were filed for speeding, and 9,580 cases were related to license violations. 

The police also reported 11,723 cases against motorcyclists for riding without helmets.

This extensive operation highlights the police's commitment to ensuring road safety and enforcing traffic regulations.
