Siri Dalada Vandanawa Continues for Second Day

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Siri Dalada Vandanawa continues for the second consecutive day today, drawing thousands of devotees from across the country and around the world.

Following special religious observances conducted in honor of the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa, devotees will be granted the opportunity to venerate the Sacred Tooth Relic from 12 noon to 5:30 p.m.

The Mahanayake Theros have requested that all devotees attend in white attire.

Such an exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic is taking place after a period of 16 years.

The public will be allowed to worship daily from 12 noon to 5:30 p.m. until the 27th of this month.

To enhance the convenience and safety of pilgrims, Sri Lanka Police launched a dedicated website, daladadekma.police.lk for those traveling to the exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

All vehicular traffic entering Kandy city will be restricted until the 27th of April, and the Sri Lanka Transport Board has initiated a special bus service to transport devotees arriving by public and private vehicles to the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.

These bus services operate from 7 locations in Kandy.

N.J. Indipolage, Deputy General Manager of the Department of Railways, stated that these special train services operate covering the areas of Kadugannawa, Katugastota, and Gampola.

To accommodate the influx of devotees, the police have designated six parking areas for vehicles arriving for the religious observance. These locations include:

Getambe Grounds

Gannoruwa Road

Katugastota 4th Mile Post

Polgolla Mahinda Rajapaksa Auditorium Premises

Dharmashoka Mawatha near Ra Kade Junction

P.T. Rajan Grounds

Additionally, parking facilities have been made available at the Bandaranaike College Grounds in Pallekele and in Gurudeniya.

Meanwhile, a comprehensive security program is being implemented in and around Kandy city to ensure the safety of all pilgrims, as confirmed by Police Media Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga.
