Special Program Launched to Protect Female Candidates From Online Violence

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A special program has been launched to prevent violence against female candidates contesting the local government elections.

Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savithri Paulraj said that special attention will be given to violence occurring on the internet and social media platforms.

She noted that female candidates often face violence, suppression, insults, and sexual harassment online.

A program to take legal action against such incidents is being implemented with the involvement of multiple parties.

This initiative is titled "Let's Support Her Journey."
