COLOMBO (News 1st) - A train delay has been reported on the main line due to a technical fault in a train traveling from Polgahawela to Colombo at Walpola.
Efforts are underway to remove the affected train from the location.
Meanwhile, all sub-station masters at Colombo’s suburban railway stations have withdrawn from service since midnight yesterday.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters' Union, Sumedha Somaratne, stated that the decision was taken in protest over delays in recruiting new sub-station masters and the failure to address ongoing issues faced by station masters.
In response, Railway General Manager Dhammika Jayasundara confirmed that vacancies exist for sub-station masters and assured that steps are being taken to recruit 22 individuals promptly.
