Alipay+ Goes Live in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); Ant International and LankaPay have officially launched Alipay+ in Sri Lanka through LANKAQR, the country’s national QR code standard.

LankaPay announced a landmark partnership with Ant International, a leading global digital payment and financial technology provider, to introduce Alipay+ acceptance in Sri Lanka.

The initiative was unveiled at a press conference held on March 25, 2025 in Colombo.

This collaboration will enable over 400,000 LANKAQR merchants across the country to accept cross-border QR payments from tourists and business travelers.

With Alipay+, visitors from 10 countries and regions can now make seamless transactions using 14 international e-wallets, that include Alipay (Chinese mainland), AlipayHK (Hong Kong SAR), MPay (Macao SAR), Hipay (Mongolia), GCash (Philippines), Changi Pay and OCBC Digital (Singapore), Touch ‘n Go eWallet and MyPB by Public Bank Berhad (Malaysia), Naver Pay and Toss Pay (South Korea), TrueMoney (Thailand), BigPay (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand), and Tinaba (Italy).

The introduction of Alipay+ is expected to significantly enhance payment convenience for travelers while driving growth and digital transformation in Sri Lanka’s tourism and retail sectors.
