COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Examinations has launched an investigation after a package containing question papers for today’s G.C.E. Advanced Level examination was mistakenly unsealed at an examination coordination centre in Ambalantota.
Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage said a team of officials from the Department of Examinations had been dispatched to the centre to investigate the incident.
She clarified that the package containing question papers for today’s examinations was mistakenly unsealed while officials were opening bags containing examination papers.
Liyanage said officials at the centre immediately informed the Department of Examinations about the incident, after which the package was resealed and returned to its designated location.
She stressed that no examination question papers were leaked at any point during the incident.
Liyanage urged students sitting for the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination today not to panic unnecessarily and to sit for the examination as scheduled.
The Department of Examinations has already commenced an investigation into the incident.
