COLOMBO (News 1st) - Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Chairman D.A. Rajakaruna confirmed that as of 4:00 PM today, the corporation has distributed 6,570.5 kilolitres of diesel, 6,959.7 kilolitres of Octane 92 petrol, 151.8 kilolitres of super diesel, and 211.2 kilolitres of Octane 95 petrol—an increase compared to the previous day.
Despite typically accepting fuel orders only until 7 AM, CPC extended the ordering period throughout the day due to heightened public demand caused by false rumors of a shortage.
“By morning, 2,924 kilolitres had been ordered, with an additional 100 orders placed later in the day,” he said.
To ensure a steady supply, CPC will continue operations tomorrow (Sunday), even though it is not a regular working day.
Rajakaruna dismissed claims by two individuals alleging they had stopped ordering fuel since midnight, clarifying that these individuals are not CPC-affiliated distributors and had, in fact, placed orders today.
Reaffirming the corporation’s strong relationship with its distributors, he stated that discussions on the new fuel price formula will commence on Tuesday without any anticipated disruptions.
Urging the public to remain calm and avoid unnecessary panic, he assured that the government is prepared to counter any attempts at sabotage.
