COLOMBO (News 1st); As February draws to a close, skywatchers have their final chance to see the “planet parade” that has been lighting up the night sky.
Seven planets are aligning in the night sky this week, creating a brief chance to see a "planetary parade."
Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus could all be visible with clear skies, but not all can be seen by the naked eye, according to Space.com and other sites that track celestial events.
The Astronomy Society of the University of Colombo has organized a night sky observation camp to study a celestial event. The camp will take place today from 6:20 PM to 8:00 PM at the university's sports ground.
Professor Chandana Jayaratne, Head of the Department of Physics at the University of Colombo, announced that the observation camp is open to the public. He encouraged everyone interested in astronomy to attend.
However, Professor Jayaratne advised the public to refrain from attending if the sky is not clear during the specified time.
