Courtroom Shooting: Statements Taken from Prison Officers

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Crime Division has recorded statements from 15 officers of the Boossa Prison regarding the fatal shooting of Ganemulla Sanjeewa, an organized crime figure, in a courtroom.

The statements were taken following permission granted by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.

The police reported that statements were recorded from both prison officers and Special Task Force officers who escorted Ganemulla Sanjeewa from Boossa Prison to the court by bus. 

Additionally, statements will be recorded from officers in charge of the prison cells at the Hultsdorf Magistrate's Court.

The incident occurred on the morning of the 19th, during a trial in Courtroom No. 05 of the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court, when Ganemulla Sanjeewa was shot dead while in the dock.
