CAA Takes Legal Action Against 39 Traders for Rice Price Inflation and Stock Hoarding

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has taken Legal action against 39 traders for selling rice at inflated prices and hoarding stock, as a result of raids conducted yesterday.

The CAA carried out the raids primarily in the Kegalle and Gampaha districts.

Among those identified were 16 traders who were selling rice at inflated prices, 10 traders who were hoarding stock, and 10 traders who failed to display prices.

The Consumer Affairs Authority said that traders selling a kilogram of Keeri Samba rice for prices between Rs. 270 to Rs. 310 were identified during the raid.
