Rs. 3,000 Allowance for Senior Citizens with a Low Income

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Secretariat for Elders says that the Rs. 3,000 allowance for senior citizens with a low-income will be paid starting from the 20th February.

Director Chathura Mihidum noted that the allowance had previously been scheduled for payment on the 15th of each month. 

However, due to various practical issues, senior citizens have faced challenges with the inconsistency in the payment dates.

To address this, the allowance, along with any outstanding payments, will now be disbursed through post and sub-post offices.

Additionally, since November, the allowance for senior citizens over the age of 70 in Aswesuma families has been directly credited to their Aswesuma accounts by the Welfare Benefits Board.
