Civil Security Officer Arrested with Firearms and Ammunition

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A Civil Security Force officer has been arrested with a T-56 assault rifle, a grenade launcher, and 18 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

The arrest followed a tip-off received during the interrogation of another suspect, who had been taken into custody under a detention order.

Police confirmed that the suspect was apprehended in Welikanda.

The 53-year-old is currently under investigation to determine whether the weapon was involved in any criminal activities.

During questioning, police also discovered a pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition in the suspect's possession.
