COLOMBO (News 1st); Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, the Army Commander, has instructed Security Forces Heads to intensify operations against illegal narcotics. This directive aligns with the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative.
Under this initiative, there will be an increase in both drug-related operations and intelligence surveillance activities.
Last year, the military arrested 451 individuals in connection with 370 incidents of illegal drug trafficking.
The military seized approximately 3,570 kilograms of cannabis, 1,040 kilograms of Kerala cannabis, nearly 11 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as 'ice'), and 61 kilograms of heroin.
