Leptospirosis Cases Surge in Northern Province

COLOMBO (News 1st) -The Ministry of Health has reported 75 cases of Leptospirosis in the Northern province this month alone, with five patients currently receiving treatment in hospital. 

Eight People have died due to the disease in the Northern Province. 

Nearly 12,000 cases of Leptospirosis have been reported in the country, while over 200 deaths have been reported so far this year. 

The epidemiology unit of the Ministry of Health has advised the general public to seek medical treatment if they experience a fever lasting several days, as a precautionary measure against the illness.
