COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lankan health authorities have warned of a surge in dengue cases due to the recent weather.
Several dengue control programs have also been launched due to this.
Accordingly, the number of dengue patients in the country has reached 47,206 this year, with 3,178 cases reported in the past month alone.
2072 cases have been reported during the past 18 days of the month.
According to the Ministry of Health, despite a decrease in the number of cases compared to last year, the number of cases may increase due to the prevailing weather.
23 deaths have been reported due to dengue this year, while 72 deaths were reported in 2023.
The most number of deaths and cases has been reported in the Western Province.
