AG Advices Further Investigations on Online Scams Carried Out by Foreign Nationals

COLOMBO (News 1st): A decision has been reached to carry out further investigation on foreign nationals involved in online scams, based on the advice of the Attorney General.

The Criminal Investigation Department the Attorney General has sought for advice on the suspects in this regard.

According to the Department investigation on the matter is being carried out with the assistance of China and other foriegn representatives.

Accordingly, close to 500 foreign nationals have been arrested for carrying out online scams.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had arrivedin the country on tourist visas.
