Landslide Warnings Remain in Effect for Several DS Divisions

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur in the most parts of the island during the evening or night. Showers will occur at several places over the coastal areas of Western and Southern provinces and in Ampara district during the morning too.

According to the met department, heavy showers of about 100 mm are likely at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central, Uva provinces, and in the Kurunegala district.

The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, the landslide warnings issued for divisional secretariat divisions of eight districts are still in effect. 

The National Building Research organization says that landslide warnings have been issued for divisional secretariat divisions of the Badulla, Galle, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Matara, and Ratnapura districts. 

These are stage one and two landslide warnings.
