COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has announced that the new government's budget will be presented in February or March of the coming year.
This budget is set to include several key measures aimed at supporting various segments of the population and fostering economic growth.
President Dissanayake outlined the main components of the upcoming budget. "We plan to present the new budget in February or March of the coming year. This budget will include salary increases for public servants, allowances for purchasing school supplies for children, and increased pensions for the elderly," he said.
The President emphasized that these allowances are not intended to be permanent.
"It is our responsibility to support you until the economic benefits of rebuilding the country reach you. We will take care of that, but we must focus on rebuilding the nation," he added.
Looking ahead, President Dissanayake expressed optimism about the country's tourism sector.
"If there are no extraordinary global circumstances, we aim to make 2025 the year with the highest number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka. We have plans in place for this. Step by step, we will move this country forward," he stated.
