730,050 Eligible Voters to Receive Postal Polling Cards

COLOMBO (News 1st); The distribution of postal polling cards for the parliamentary elections scheduled for November 14, 2024, commenced today at district secretariats across the country. 

Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Rathnayake announced that out of the 750,210 applications received for postal voting, 21,160 were rejected. 

Consequently, postal polling cards will be issued to 730,050 eligible voters. This marks an increase of approximately 23,000 postal voters compared to the previous presidential election.

Both the Postal Department and the district offices of the Election Commission have completed all necessary preparations for the distribution process. 

Voters who have not yet received their official poll cards can expect them to be delivered by Saturday, October 26, across all 25 districts.

Special distribution days have been designated for October 27 and November 3 to ensure timely delivery. The final date for the distribution of postal polling cards is set for November 7. Voters who do not receive their polling cards by this date can collect them from their respective district offices.

Following the distribution, the marking of postal ballots will take place on October 30, November 1, and November 4.
