COLOMBO (News 1st); A fundamental rights petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking an interim order to prevent the release of the results and cut-off marks of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, which has sparked controversy.

The petition was filed by 54 individuals, including students who sat for the examination and their parents.

The respondents named in the petition include the Commissioner General of Examinations, Amit Jayasundara, and the Prime Minister, among others.

The controversy arose following the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination held on September 15th, when several questions were found to have been leaked.

Commissioner General of Examinations, Amit Jayasundara, stated that investigations revealed three questions from the examination paper had been leaked.

He announced that free marks would be awarded for these three questions and that the evaluation of answer scripts would proceed accordingly.

Jayasundara also confirmed that the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination would not be re-conducted.
