COLOMBO (News 1st); Ranjan Ramanayake, a former Sri Lankan lawmaker and also one of the most popular actors in the country, has announced his return to active politics with the formation of a new political party, the United Democratic Voice.

The party, symbolized by the microphone, aims to represent and amplify the concerns of those who are unheard.

Ramanayake, who has been elected to the Parliament of Sri Lanka on three separate occasions, expressed his excitement and joy at establishing his own party.

He highlighted the challenges he faced during his third term, where he was unable to serve a full year due to certain groups stripping him of his civic rights, deeming him unfit for Parliament.

In his announcement, Ramanayake emphasized his mission to be a voice for the voiceless. He is confident that he will receive the support of both nature and the people of Sri Lanka in this endeavor. He is dedicating his future to this cause, believing that the best way forward is with a new and unblemished political party.

The United Democratic Voice, under Ramanayake’s leadership, is committed to transparency and integrity.

The launch of UDV also saw the participation of former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain TM Dilshan.
