COLOMBO (News 1st); The police have issued a notice urging the public to report to the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) if they do not receive a response within two weeks of submitting a complaint.

Complaints can be submitted through the website www.telligp.police.lk.

Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya has issued a directive to resolve all pending and unexamined complaints at police stations within two weeks.

Senior Deputy Inspectors General and other high-ranking officers have been instructed to implement a special plan to expedite this process.

The directive highlights that a significant number of complaints remain unexamined or unresolved, which could lead to minor incidents escalating into serious crimes and eroding public trust in the police.

Acting IGP Weerasuriya further instructed that, moving forward, police station chiefs or OICs must begin investigating complaints on the day they are reported and complete the investigations within 48 hours.

Compliance with these instructions will be monitored by relevant state officials, and any station chiefs failing to adhere to these directives will be reported to the Acting IGP.
