COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Trade announced the development of a new plan to swiftly pass on the benefits of the strengthening rupee against the US dollar to consumers.
According to the Ministry's Secretary, M.M. Naimudeen, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, who is also the Minister in charge, provided directives on this matter during a discussion held yesterday.
As part of this plan, market prices will be reviewed and analyzed to determine price ranges.
The plan also includes informing food importers and producers about the necessity of reducing prices, supported by detailed explanations.
Naimudeen stated that it has become evident that the benefits of the rupee's appreciation against the US dollar are not reaching the public.
