05 more inmates of the Galle prison, hospitalized

COLOMBO (News 1st) - 05 more inmates of the Galle prison have been hospitalized. 

Prisons Spokesman Gamini Dissanayake said that the group of inmates is currently receiving treatment at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital. 

He said that although 2 inmates of the Matara Prison who were hospitalized due to fever conditions died later, the situation in the prison has turned to normal once again. 

Dissanayake said that upon instructions received from health officials, access to the Galle prison has been limited for a period of 7 days and that medicines have been provided to all inmates as well as prison officials.
