Meeting Scheduled for Monday to Review Protections for Former Presidents

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A meeting will take place on Monday to assess security arrangements for a group including former presidents.

The meeting will be chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security.

Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya said that the meeting will evaluate current security threats and consider potential reductions in security levels.

However, he assured that protections at key sites like Temple of the Tooth Relic and Sri Maha Bodhi will remain unchanged. 

Additionally, police protection for former members of parliament has been removed.
