CID Investigates Exam Paper Leak, Several Arrests Made

COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has announced that further arrests are being made in connection with the alleged leak of several questions from the first paper of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.

The CID confirmed that investigations are ongoing without interruption.

Meanwhile, the Director of the National Institute of Education, who was arrested in connection with the incident, has been remanded until the 7th of this month. The Police Media Division stated that the suspect was a member of the committee responsible for preparing the exam papers.

The arrested individual is a 57-year-old resident of Thiththawella, Kurunegala.

The Department of Examinations has requested the investigation report from the CID regarding the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.
Commissioner General of Examinations, Amith Jayasundara, emphasized the need to review the report before making any further decisions.
