COLOMBO (News 1st); SLPP Presidential Candidate Namal Rajapaksa cast his vote at the D. A. Rajapaksa National School polling center in Medamulana, Tangalle.
Rajapaksa emphasized the integrity and dedication of his political campaign. "We have always been honest about what we can achieve. Our commitment is to work for the well-being of the people of this country. We are not a political force that deceives the public to gain votes; we earn votes through our hard work," he said.
Rajapaksa highlighted the need for a change in the country's political culture, stating that it must begin with genuine efforts and not through exploiting familial ties for sympathy.
He recalled the resilience shown during past crises, such as the bombings in the 1980s and the LTTE conflict, noting that his party did not flee but continued to live normal lives despite the challenges.
"We have faced many struggles, and even when our homes were burning, we did not run away. As we face this election with a mindset of victory, there is no reason for us to flee. The people are intelligent, and it is clear that they understand this. It is important to recognize that the public is often more discerning than many politicians give them credit for," Rajapaksa concluded.
