Strict Deadlines Set For Election Offices

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Election Commission has issued a notification detailing the operational time limits for authorized election offices during the upcoming election period.

According to the notification, the operation of notified branch election offices at the constituency level will cease at midnight today.

Election offices established at the level of each polling area will commence operations tomorrow and can be maintained until September 22nd. 

Similarly, the period for operating constituency-level election offices will also conclude at midnight on September 22nd.

Additionally, from midnight on September 22nd, presidential candidates or their authorized representatives will no longer be permitted to use their residences as election offices.

The Election Commission has emphasized that any election offices operating beyond these deadlines will be immediately dismantled in accordance with election laws. 

To enforce this, teams comprising police officers and investigation officers have been deployed.
