ITAK Endorses Sajith & Also Seen With Common Candidate

COLOMBO (News 1st); In a surprising turn of events, Mavai Senathirajah, the leader of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi or ITAK, announced his support for Sajith Premadasa of the Samagi Jana Balavega in the upcoming presidential election. This declaration was made earlier yesterday.

However, just hours after this announcement, Mavai Senathirajah also attended a public meeting in Kilinochchi that was organized to express support for the Tamil Common Candidate, P. Arianethran. 

The ITAK's six-member committee, tasked with evaluating the election manifestos, convened in Vavuniya yesterday. 

The meeting was chaired by Mavai Senathirajah and attended by notable members including Parliamentarians S. Sreedharan, President's Counsel MA Sumanthiran, Party General Secretary P. Sathyalingam, Senior Deputy Leader CVK Sivagnanam, and former Mayor of Batticaloa, Thyagaraja Saravanabavan.

Mavai Senathirajah emphasized the party's central committee decision to back Premadasa, urging voters to support him in the election scheduled for the 21st. He called for unity and understanding among the voters to address the pressing issues facing the community.

Despite this, Mavai Senathirajah's participation in the Kilinochchi meeting highlighted his continued commitment to unity and freedom. 

"Whatever decisions we have taken, risking our lives for our freedom, I expressed my opinion here that it is necessary to come to this public meeting and work together for the freedom I mentioned," he stated.
