COLOMBO (News 1st); Stickers promoting presidential candidates have been removed from several three-wheelers during a police operation in Kollupitiya, Bambalapitiya, and other areas.
The police identified these three-wheelers as part of a special island-wide operation targeting private buses, three-wheelers, and other private vehicles displaying candidate promotion stickers.
The police have been instructed to use emergency roadblocks whenever possible to identify such vehicles and remove the stickers.
The Election Commission issued a special announcement, directing the removal promotional stickers of presidential candidates immediately.
The Commission emphasized that such activities are an offense under Section 74 of the Presidential Elections Act No. 15 of 1981.
