Minor ID Discrepancies Won’t Hinder Voting

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Election Commission has announced that minor discrepancies in identity card numbers or names on official Polling Cards will not prevent voters from casting their ballots. 

This clarification comes as some voters have reported receiving new identity cards, while their official Polling Cards still reflect their old identity card numbers.

The commission assured that it has provided detailed instructions to all polling center officials on how to handle such cases. 

If there is a slight change in a voter's name, the officials will investigate the matter and ensure the individual is given the opportunity to vote.
