Court-Ordered Probe into Human Remains at Colombo Port

COLOMBO (News 1st); An investigation has commenced into the discovery of human remains at the Colombo port premises. 



The bone fragments were found near the first roundabout upon entering from Colombo Chaitya Road, through the harbor gate, and towards the left side of the main harbor road. 



The discovery was made on July 13th.



The old secretariat building of the port is located near the site where the bones were unearthed. 



The remains were discovered during excavation work for the construction of an elevated expressway from Iguru Kade Junction to Colombo Port City. The bones were found approximately six feet below the surface.



Under court orders, the investigation began under the supervision of Professor Raj Somadeva. 



The bones were exhumed in the presence of Colombo Additional Magistrate Bandara Ilangasinghe. 



Members of the Association of Families of the Missing Persons were also present during the proceedings.
