COLOMBO (News 1st); National People's Power presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued a direct challenge to independent presidential candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Dissanayake criticized Wickremesinghe for allegedly spreading falsehoods about his involvement with former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. He urged Wickremesinghe to either stop making these claims or provide evidence to support them.
"Ranil Wickremesinghe claims that when the country fell, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa invited me, and I hid. Will Ranil, Gotabhaya, Basil Rajapaksa, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Mahindananda together give us the opportunity to form a government? I challenge Ranil Wickremesinghe. Please stop telling that lie. Or prove that Gotabhaya invited us," said Dissanayake.
Dissanayake also criticized Wickremesinghe's previous statements, drawing parallels to past claims made by Mahinda Rajapaksa about the country's stability.
He questioned Wickremesinghe's assertions that the country would face further decline if the National People's Power came to power.
