Two Arrested for Impersonating IRD Officers in Aluthgama

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two individuals have been arrested in Aluthgama Dargah town for fraudulently collecting money by pretending to be officers of the Inland Revenue Department. 

The arrests followed complaints from local residents who became suspicious while the suspects were collecting income tax from shops.

The Aluthgama Police acted on these complaints and apprehended the suspects. 

Further investigations into the incident are currently underway.

The Inland Revenue Department has issued a warning to the public to be vigilant about a money collection racket involving individuals posing as their officials. They urge residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately.
