COLOMBO (News 1st) - Approval has been granted to detain the three people arrested over the murder of Surendra Wasantha Perera, alias Club Wasantha.
The suspects, among them the main shooter, were arrested in Kaudana, Dehiwala, during a joint operation of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Terrorism Investigation Division.
Authorities found a T-56 assault rifle, 12 live bullets with the letters KPI engraved on them, and 165 live bullets for T-56 rifles.
The suspected main shooter, who has been identified as Pati Arambage Ajith Rohana, is an ex-army soldier.
Two including Club Wasantha were shot dead during the opening ceremony of a tattoo parlor in Athurugiriya, on July 8.
