COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Central Environment Authority urges devotees to dispose of waste responsibly during the Kandy Esala Perahera.
Director General Hemantha Jayasinghe said that the Perahera typically produces around three tons of polythene, plastic, and other solid waste daily.
To manage this, a comprehensive waste management program has been in place for many years, led by various institutions.
Jayasinghe encourages devotees to contribute to environmental protection by using designated waste disposal sites and minimizing the use of non-biodegradable materials, such as polythene and plastic.
