Election Commission and Police to Meet

COLOMBO (News1st); A pivotal meeting is scheduled for Friday (09) between the Election Commission and Sri Lanka Police to finalize the security arrangements for the upcoming nomination day. 

This high-level discussion is expected to draw in a cadre of senior police officers overseeing the Colombo region, as announced by the Election Commission.

The meeting aims to hammer out a robust security plan to ensure a smooth and secure nomination process, a critical juncture in the lead-up to the presidential election.

In a related development, election monitoring bodies held talks with the police yesterday.

Rohana Hettiarachchi, the Executive Director of PAFFREL, highlighted the discussions, emphasizing the urgency of implementing immediate actions to curb any potential breaches of election laws.
