A Group Of Sri Lankan Students Return To The Island Amidst Ongoing Bangladesh Protests

Colombo (News 1st): State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tharaka Balasuriya says that several Sri Lankan students studying at universities in Dhaka and Chittagong, Bangladesh, have returned to Sri Lanka, amidst ongoing protests. 

State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tharaka Balasuriya said universities provided them with food and drinks before leaving. 

He confirmed that Sri Lankans in Bangladesh, including students and workers, were not affected by the unrest. 

These protests, now in their 22nd day, erupted in response to a court order reviving a quota system for government jobs, which had previously been abolished. 

A Nationwide Curfew is still in effect in Bangladesh.
