Govt Executive Officers' Allowance Increased

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government announced an increase in the monthly executive allowance for government executive officers.

Effective today, their allowance will rise by 10,000 rupees, bringing it to a total of 25,000 rupees.

However, controversy surrounds the move.

Sampath Deshapriya, a member of the Executive Committee of the Joint Committee of Government Executive Officers, expressed dissatisfaction.

Despite the allowance increase, he highlighted that certain existing allowances have been slashed.

As a result, the Joint Committee of Government Executive Officers has initiated a trade union action, withdrawing from district and regional coordination committees.
