COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan authorities conducted a raid on a foreign employment agency located in the Kottawa, Makumbura area.
The agency had allegedly been deceiving individuals by promising overseas employment opportunities in exchange for money. The Foreign Employment Bureau confirmed that this agency was operating without a valid license.
It was reported that the agency had obtained money citing employment opportunities are available in countries like Romania, Albania, and Cyprus.
During the raid, the owner of the establishment was apprehended.
Authorities discovered 50 passports, job applications, visa documents, and other related materials in the suspect’s possession.
Subsequently, the arrested individual was presented before the Homagama Magistrate’s Court and released on a surety bond of 1 million rupees.
