Three suspects with heroin valued over Rs. 5 million held in Wattala

COLOMBO (News 1st): A search operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with the Police Narcotic Bureau in Wattala on 24th June 2024, led to the arrest of 03 suspects (02 males and 01 female) with about 200g of heroin and seizure of a three wheeler.

The search operation was carried out by the Western and Northwestern Naval Commands in coordination with the Police Narcotic Bureau in the Wattala area. During the operation the raiding party searched a three wheeler in the area on suspicion and recovered about 200g of heroin, concealed in the three wheeler, with the intention of selling. Accordingly, 03 suspects (02 males and 01 female) in connection to the incident, the three wheeler and narcotic substance were taken into custody.

The gross street value of heroin seized in this operation is believed to be about Rs. 05 million.

The suspects held in this operation were identified as residents of Negombo and Colombo, from 26 to 48 years of age. The accused, along with heroin and the three wheeler were handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for onward legal action.
