Sri Lanka's Electricity Act now effective

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The New Electricity Bill that was passed in Parliament three weeks ago, was endorsed by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday.

The new Electricity Act comes into effect from June 27.

The Sri Lanka Electricity Bill was passed by a majority of 44 votes following the debate held in the Parliament on June 6.

This bill was presented to the Parliament on April 25, and aims to make necessary arrangements for reforms in the electricity sector.
