COLOMBO (News 1st); Colombo Chief District Judge Sandun Withana has ruled that the petition filed against former President Maithripala Sirisena will be heard ex parte.
The petition was submitted by Montegu Saratchandra, a member of the All-Ceylon Working Committee and the Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
During the hearing, no legal representation appeared on behalf of Maithripala Sirisena, leading the judge to decide on an ex parte examination of the petition.
Previously, the judge issued an interim injunction preventing former President Sirisena from acting as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party until a final decision on the petition is made.
The respondents in the petition are Maithripala Sirisena, former General Secretary of the party Dayasiri Jayasekara, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, and Duminda Dissanayake.
The petition is scheduled to be heard again on August 26.
