Approx. 46 kg of smuggled Tendu leaves seized in Mannar

COLOMBO (News 1st):  A search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the South Bar area of Mannar yesterday, resulted in the seizure of approximately 46kg of Tendu leaves, suspected to have been smuggled into the country.

SLNS Gajaba, under the North Central Naval Command, conducted a search operation in the South Bar area yesterday morning.

During the operation, the Navy recovered about 46kg (wet weight) of Tendu leaves from the locality. The consignment had been stuffed in 98 parcels when recovered.

The stash of Tendu leaves was handed over to the Mannar Police for onward legal action.
