Sri Lankan Navy Seizes Over Rs 13 Bn Worth of Narcotics This Year

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Navy reports that, to date this year, they have seized narcotics valued at over Rs. 13.21 billion.

In a recent statement, the Navy highlighted a troubling increase in drug trafficking activities disguised as fishing operations.

The most recent incident, which occurred last Friday, involved the interception of a multi-day fishing vessel in the southern sea.

The Navy seized 131 kilograms of heroin and arrested six individuals in connection with the smuggling operation.
