COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga won the gold medal in the men's javelin category at the Asian Throwing Championships hosted by South Korea this time.

Rumesh Tharanga's performance was 85.45 meters which is a Sri Lankan record and a tournament record.

However, he missed the Olympic bid by 5 cm.

The Olympic level was seen as 85.50 meters.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Sumedha Ranasinghe won the bronze medal in the event.

His performance was 77.57 meters.

Dilhani Lekamge won the bronze medal in the women's javelin category with a performance of 57.94 meters.
