SLFP Meeting Was Illegal, says Court

COLOMBO (News1st); The Kaduwela District Court on Friday (31) decided that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Executive Council meeting during which Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, PC, was appointed Acting Chairman of the SLFP, and Keerthi Udawatte was named Acting Secretary, was illegal.

Accordingly, the injunction order issued against 20 persons including Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Minister Attorney-At-Law Nimal Siripala de Silva, preventing them from obstructing Rajapakshe and Udawatte from carrying out their duties was also lifted.

Kaduwela District Judge Dulani Wickramasooriya, who issued the order, adjourned the hearing to June 12.
