Heat index advisory issued for several provinces

COLOMBO (News1st); The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat index advisory for several provinces on Friday (03).

The Met. Department said the heat index, or the temperature felt on the human body is expected to increase up to ‘Extreme
Caution level’ at some places in the Northern and North-central provinces and the Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts.

The Department added the heat index is expected to increase up to ‘Caution level’ at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-Western provinces and the Ampara and Monaragala districts.

The Met. Department advised the public to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity, and wear lightweight and light-coloured clothing.
